Tom Adams:
Tom Adams (BGB): Three-time IBMA Banjo Player of the Year, Tom has played the five-string for Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, the Johnson Mountain Boys, the Lynn Morris Band, Blue Highway, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Rhonda Vincent and the Rage, and for Dale Ann Bradley. He has toured with banjoists Tony Trischka and Tony Furtado and his landmark session with Michael Cleveland Live at the Ragged Edge, garnered him IBMA's 2004 award for "Instrumental Album of the Year." Tom has also released a pair of solo-instrumental banjo album titled Right Hand Man and Adams County Banjo. The author of "Adams County Banjo," a regular column appearing in Banjo Newsletter magazine, Tom is now playing guitar and singing lead with Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper.

Terry Baucom:
Terry Baucom (BGB): The Duke of Drive, Terry Baucom, has worked with such luminaries as Tony Rice, Herschel Sizemore, Alan Bibey, Randy Graham, and Ronnie Bowman. At a young age, Terry began performing with his father and the Rocky Mountain Boys. In 1970, his first professional job came as a fiddler with Charlie Moore. Soon thereafter, along with legends Ricky Skaggs and Jerry Douglas, he was founding member of Boone Creek. Between multiple stints with Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Terry helped create IIIrd Tyme Out, Lou Reid and Carolina, and Blueridge. Terry continues to free-lance and conduct banjo workshops. Having completed a new instructional DVD, he expects to begin recording a solo CD later this year. Terry now plays banjo with Dale Ann Bradley.

Laura Boosinger:
Laura Boosinger (OTB): Laura Boosinger is known as "The Songbird of the Smokies," a moniker bestowed on her by North Carolina Folk Award Winner, Luke Smathers. For 13 years, she was a member of Luke's band, which played their style of string band music called "Mountain Swing." Laura has taught old-time banjo at the American Banjo Camp, Blue Ridge Old-Time Music Week, as well as at Augusta, Swannanoa, and Kaufman Kamp. She is a proud member of David Holt and the Lightning Bolts. Her latest CD release, titled, "Most Of All," is a collection of traditional tunes including "Shady Grove" and "Single Girl." This recording also features some newly written gems by Joe Newberry, Raymond W. McLain, and one by the great John Hartford.

Bob Carlin:
Bob Carlin (OTB): Probably the best known clawhammer style banjoist performing today, Bob's distinctive southern style has been enjoyed by audiences all over the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan. A three-time winner of the Frets Magazine reader's poll, Bob has four Rounder recordings and several banjo instructional manuals and videos to his credit. Sought after for his talent as a producer and traditional music researcher, Bob has produced a large number of CDs and has authored numerous articles and books for multiple publications. Once a member of John Hartford's String band, Bob performs at clubs, schools, museaums, radio shows, and festivals including the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Merle Fest, NPR's "Weekend Edition," and "The Grand Old Opry."

Bill Emerson:
Bill Emerson (BGB sat. only): Bill Emerson is a true master of the instrument. Called a "banjo legend" by the Washington Post, Bill has been inducted into the SPBGMA Preservation Hall of Greats, The Washington Area Music Award Hall of Fame, the Virginia Folk Music Association Hall of Fame, and has twice been awarded Banjo Player of the Year by Muleskinner News. Credited with starting the careers of dobro legends Mike Auldridge and Jerry Douglas, he was a founding member of The Country Gentlemen. Among others, he has worked with Jimmy Martin, Country Current, Wayne Taylor, and Emerson and Waldron. Having penned numerous bluegrass standards including "Theme Time," Bill plays with "Bill Emerson and the Sweet Dixie Band." We are proud to have him and his band as part of this year's North Carolina Banjo Clinic.

Tom McKinney:
Tom McKinney (BGB): Now playing banjo for the Asheville-based Redeye Ramblers, Tom is known throughout the bluegrass world as one of the best Scruggs-style banjo pickers in the business. Beginning in 1969, he began his professional career playing and singing with a number of bluegrass groups including the Boys from Shiloh, the Shenandoah Cut-Ups, and the Country Grass. Tom has also been featured in a Walt Disney movie production playing the five string! Having spent much of his life on the road, including a stint with Curley Sechler and the Nashville Grass, he is devoted to teaching, to playing in local bands, and to performing banjo repair and set-up. Tom will be teaching on Friday and performing BGB setup all day Saturday.

Jim Rollins:
Jim Rollins (BGB): Hailing from the Greenville area of South Carolina, Jim Rollins has been playing 5-string banjo for over 30 years. Known for his solid and straight-ahead style, he has played with Jimmy Martin and the Sunny Mountain Boys, The Dale Ann Bradley Band, Larry Sparks and the Lonesome Ramblers, Buzz Busby and The Bayou Boys, Bobby Hicks and The Fiddle Patch Band, and with many others. His primary musical influences are Earl Scruggs, JD Crowe, Bill Emerson, Allen Shelton, and especially South Carolina banjoist and native, Al Osteen. Jim's playing style is firmly based in the Scruggs camp with a strong emphasis on stating the melody. Jim's playing is based on the three Ts: Timing, Taste, and Tone.

Mike Scott:
Mike Scott (BGB): Known for his worldwide touring, Mike has worked with Ronnie Reno & The Reno Tradition, Danny David and The Nashville Brass, Jim & Jesse and The Virginia Boys, Carl Story & The Rambling Mountaineers, and The Cumberland Mountain Boys. He has appeared on a long list of venues including Reno's Old Time Music Festival, Blue Highways TV, The Grand Ole Opry, (over three hundred & fifty appearances!), Nashville Now (with Ralph Emery), The Nashville Network, New Country, Fire On The Mountain, Austin City Limits, the BBC, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the WWVA Jamboree, the Renfro Valley Barndance, the A.P. Carter Family Fold, and at The Gibson Bluegrass Showcase in Nashville, TN. Mike has recorded seven banjo instrumental CD's.
